Yggdrasil over WiFi Mesh for blackout and off-grid scenarios.
YggMesh is an open-source, zero-configuration firmware for low-cost travel routers. It drops Layer 2 bridging entirely, running an end-to-end encrypted Layer 3 IPv6 overlay (Yggdrasil) directly over raw 802.11s interfaces. Plug it into a USB power bank, and client devices immediately receive a globally-routable 200::/7 IPv6 address via SLAAC.
Scenarios
- Cellular Blackouts & Disaster Recovery: Instantly deployable, decentralized broadband IP networks when the primary grid or cell towers go down.
- Overlanding & Off-Grid Camping: Link convoys and campsites to share offline maps, VoIP, and local web apps deep in the woods where LTE and Starlink fail.
- Edge Computing & Field Events: Coordinate staff, connect IoT sensors, and sync local databases across a physical site without an ISP.
